Yesterday, 9/19/2008, my wonderful boyfriend and I became each other fiancee's.... and I couldn't be more happy!!!
THE BACK STORY: Sometime earlier this week Sean asked me if we could have a "date night" on Friday. (Date night's seem to be very few and far between with our crazy schedules). Of course I said yes and started to think of something fun the two of us could do together. As I was getting ready to leave work that day I decided that I was going to tell Sean to plan something and surprise me (He loves surprises... I hate them)... When I called to tell him that he told me that he already had planned something... I was ecstatic and told him I didn't want to know any details...
All of a sudden on Wednesday night on my way home from church, I got hit with this awful cold... wiped me out cold!!! (No pun intended). I was miserably sick :( Playing off the whole thing so well Sean convinced me not to cancel date night despite me ailment...
HOW IT HAPPENED: The night started by us taking a walk in the Orange County Park (NY) Arboretum (If that's not spelled right it was a beautiful place that had tons of flowers and trees, and fountains with benches to just sit around and relax... kinda like a down-scaled botanical gardens.) We walked for awhile, we actually around the whole park and realized it wasn't quite what Sean was expecting but that was okay with me. There was one spot where they had a fountain and it was a floating Sphere... a monument to 911... I told Sean I wanted to go over and check it out. So we did.... Having plenty of time to kill before our dinner reservation, we sat down on one of the benches and started chatting (By time to kill I mean like 2 hours)... As we were talking Sean told me he has something for me but it wasn't anything I would expect. He has written me a poem (for those who don't know, he writes wonderful poetry and song lyrics)... He scooted to the end of the bench and started to look at me and read the poem... It was entitled "PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE"... (About the second stanza in, I kinda got a hint for what was going on)... At the end of the poem, he got down on his knee and proposed :).... And I said...... "Of Course"... (instead of yes)
AFTERWORDS: We took our time making our way back to the truck and headed to the restaurant our reservations were at... "Backyard Bistro"... a very Romantical restaurant and very small., gourmet though... and excellent food (for anyone in the area, I would definitely recommend it for special occasions) After our wonderful dinner we headed home for the night....
... And that's the story...
